Christabel was born in Melbourne Australia in 1963. She completed her art studies in New York City Hunter College And Independent study program at the Whitney Museum/ Studio program New York
The work is titled “Relaxed” from an ongoing series called “ Embody series”. I create this series of work like a lot of my stuff, by cutting with a chain saw then repeatedly burning and using a high powered jet stream of water to slowly eat away at the form creating a form that looks like it could have almost been made by nature, wind, rain and fire.
Christabel has been the recipient of various Art Awards including:
- The Winner of the Montalto Sculpture prize in 2012.
- The Winner of the Mt Buller Peoples choice award 2013.
- The Winner of the Montalto Pennon hill peoples choice Award 2011.
Christabel Has been a Finalist at the Montalto Sculpture Award from 2009 to 2016. Currently Open at Montalto with her work “Knucklebones”.
Christabel was a finalist in 2014 and upcoming 2016 “Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, NSW and the Lorne Sculpture Biennale, VIC.
She recently had a solo Exhibition on the Summit of Mt Buller, VIC.
Christabel has many public art works most recently installed at Queenscliff Ferry Terminal.
In 2012 Christabel was Commissioned by Mr Bails Myer to Produce a 10 meter work for his Collection on View in the grounds of Elgee Park, Mr R Smorgan and Mr B Brown QC Both Commissioned her to make Works for their Private Collections.
